- Configuring a printer for Windows
- Make sure you are connected to the VUMCemployee Wi-Fi network. The printers are not available on the VUMCguest network.
- Open Settings, click on Devices, click on Printers & scanners
- Click the plus icon (Add a printer or scanner)
- It will begin a search for printers, but dont wait for that. There are just too many. Scroll down to and click the link The printer that I want isnt listed
- Select Add a printer using an IP address or hostname. Click Next.
- For Device type, pick Autodetect
- For Hostname of IP address, Enter the hostname of the desired printer. See PrinterHostnames for the printer hostnames.
- Make sure Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use is checked. Click Next.
- If asked, select Use the driver that is currently installed (recommended). Click Next.
- The default printer name us unhelpful. Change the printer name to something useful depending which printer you are installing (e.g. biostatcolor1, biostatcolor3, etc.). Click Next.
- Uncheck Share this printer. Click Next.
