About my job:

The Assistant To The Chair reviews and approves expenditures; plans, prepares and analyzes budgetary data for department budget and grant administration; helps in the establishment of the strategic planning process in conjunction with other key leaders; creates financial models for predicting funding requirements; monitors chair and department expenditures and approves expenditures against budget; verifies figures, identifies and researches discrepancies; makes recommendations and projections; assists with development of grant applications; is the faculty liaison responsible for faculty affairs and career development; manages faculty recruitment, appointments, reappointments, and promotions; makes recommendations for promotion and salary increases ensuring internal equity; coordinates and facilitates performance development annually or as needed; is responsible for space and facilities planning; analyzes department's performance and productivity; manages international affairs; develops, communicates, implements, interprets, and revises policies and procedures; coordinates special events; develops PR materials; is accountable for the assurance of quality improvement goals and the determination of the most efficient use of resources; interviews and makes decisions regarding hiring of new staff; and will play an integral role in the department's plans to develop graduate and undergraduate programs in Biostatistics.
