New guidelines for VICTR biostat support application (effective September, 2017)

  • VICTR will no longer offer any $2000 vouchers.
  • All biostatistics vouchers will be for 'up to $5000' and will get up to 90 hours of consulting. When the amount of time spent exceeds 80 hours, a VICTR biostatistician will request that the investigator's home division/department/center provide a letter of support for funding should the time requirement exceed 90 hours. Work will be suspended until the signed letter is received.
  • Besides offering help with design and analysis plans, the primary responsibility of clinic biostatisticians when discussing VICTR voucher applications is to certify that the work can be completed within 90 hours of combined statistician time. If the intent of the investigator is to publish more than one paper, that generally cannot be done within the 90 hour limit.
  • All biostatistics vouchers will undergo expedited review by a VICTR scientific reviewer as well as biostatistical reviewer.
  • PIs will still need to obtain a biostat quote to accompany the application by attending a biostatistics clinic or communication with VICTR biostatistician.
  • Cost sharing will no longer be required/available. If analysis for a given study requires more than 90 hours of work, it will be the PI’s responsibility to provide a center number to the department of Biostatistics for the remainder.
  • VICTR biostatistician will document the utilized hours on the StarBRITE so that the award can be closed and the VICTR allotted time will be complete.
  • Only one voucher will be awarded per PI per year and a single project can only get support once.
