  • Install systemimager
    1. apt-get install systemimager-client systemimager-common
  • Steps to create an image
    1. Create & configure the golden client
    2. Prepare the golden client (from golden client)
      • si_prepareclient --server 160.129.116.127
    3. Grab the golden client (from image server)
      • si_getimage -golden-client IPADDRESS -image CLIENT_V1
  • Steps to obtain the image
    1. In BIOS, set video memory to 64MB
    2. Boot with CD & floppy
    3. Boot with Knoppix
    4. Install grub
      • su
      • grub
      • root (hd0,0)
      • setup hd0
    5. Modify menu.lst
      • add devfs=mount option
  • Steps to resize partition (from image server)
    1. Modify this file: /var/lib/systemimager/images/client_v2/etc/systemimager/autoinstallscript.conf
    2. Run this command: LOOKTHISUP

Questions to answer

  • Why is grub not installing itself?
  • Should I reinstall grub (grub-install) once the problem is fixed?
    • this would install the newest version
  • Why is NTP not starting?
