• Run sylpheed to configure the account, specifying their own ID in place of "vunetid" and specifying their password for reading mail
• Make sylpheed the default mail client:

          K -> Settings -> Control Center -> KDE Components -> Component Chooser
          Select "Use a different email client"
          Type the following command in the text box: sylpheed --compose %t
