Steve Meurer, PhD, MBA, MHS

Senior Vice President, Comparative Data & Informatics

Wednesday, June 1, 1:30-2:30pm, MRBIII Conference Room 1220

This presentation from UHC's senior leader in comparative data and informatics will provide an overview of the University Health System Consortium's (UHC) Clinical Data Base (CDB) and Resource Manager (RM). The CDB is UHC's oldest and most penetrated data product, with 120 academic medical centers and 80 community hospitals submitting patient level administrative data on a monthly basis. The data goes through an automated and rigorous data intake process to ensure it is comparable to other hospitals and is free of any major errors. Patient's are provided a risk adjusted expected value for length of stay, costs and mortality. Risk stratification can be accomplished with all other outcomes including complications and readmissions. A by physician report is available as are hospital-based outpatient reports. The RM allows for substantial drill down into utilization patterns of drugs, lab and radiology tests, blood products, some med / surg supplies and accommodations.
