Homework 4

Work the following problems in Rosner. State the statistical method you used for each calculation, and provide the necessary results.
  1. 6.33
  2. 6.35, 6.36
  3. 7.83-7.84 using a parametric and a nonparametric approach
  4. 8.31-8.36
  5. 8.37-8.42 but you do not need to carry out a test for equality of variances
  6. 8.161-2 carrying out all needed analyses using both parametric and nonparametric tests
  7. 10.18, 10.25-10.28 and compute an appropriate confidence interval for both datasets
  8. For the data in Table 11.23 related to problem 11.60, what kind of correlation analysis will best handle the fact that the lowest gestational age does not correspond to one single value? Perform an analysis using this measure, reporting an index of correlation and a 2-sided P-value
  9. For the data in Table 11.28 associated with problem 11.93, do a parametric and a nonparametric correlation analysis, then report a suitable measure of agreement in the 1999 and 2003 serum lutein values
  10. A correlation study is being planned for which the goal is to estimate the correlation between two physiologic measures. How many subjects will need to be enrolled to result in a margin of error (with 0.95 confidence) for the linear correlation coefficient to be less than 0.15 in the worst case?
