Recommend Pages To Trash
We currently have no mechanism to identify unused pages that warrant deletion. Given the group ownership of pages, it is rare that someone will decide to delete a page without somehow sparking a discussion first. The following process is proposed.
How to recommend a page for deletion
If you see a page you think should be deleted, do the following.
- Suggest a page for deletion below. Include the last time the page was edited.
- Cut and paste the following code on the top of the page proposed for deletion.
%X% Page recommended for deletion.
If you disagree, please delete this comment
and indicate your preference on the page
[[Recommend Pages To Trash]].<br><br>
If the page recommended for deletion goes a vague, but sufficiently long, period of time without anyone coming to its defense, it will be deleted by a member of the department's IT team.
How to save a page for deletion
If you see a page recommended for deletion and would like it to be saved, do the following.
- Remove the code of the top of the recommended page indicating it is proposed deletion.
- Edit this page with a comment that you think the recommended page is worth keeping. That way it won't get re-recommended for deletion.
Please pick up your own litter
If you created a page that you know should be deleted, go ahead and trash it. This protocol is for when you aren't sure if there are others who would want to keep the page in question.
