Procedures and Notes for Statisticians Taking Part in the Collaboration Plan

  • Be aware of future grant deadlines and take the initiative to remind investigators of the dealines and your availability. Take the initiative to schedule grant planning meetings months in advance of deadlines.
  • Be aware of which investigators are covered by the plan.
  • The plan does not cover work that is grant funded or that should be grant funded.
  • Keep track of time spent on the plan. It is recommended that you do this daily and record time spent to the nearest quarter hour. Soon we will have an electronic system to assist you.
  • The average percent effort spent on the plan over a 6-month period should equal the amount funded.
  • When you find that your time is being significantly underutilized, contact the investigators covered by the plan to remind them of what the resource offers them, including participating in journal clubs, research conferences, and designing and teaching short courses focused on the investigators' needs.
