---+Install <nop>PlayOnMac and Power and Sample Size program on Macintosh * Download [[http://www.playonmac.com/en/][PlayOnMac]] (the file is <nop>PlayOnMac_4.2.6.dmg as of 19 Feb 2015) * Double click on the disk image file (<nop>PlayOnMac_4.2.6.dmg) just downloaded. It is probably in the Downloads folder. This will bring up the <nop>PlayOnMac installer. * Install <nop>PlayOnMac (i.e., drag <nop>PlayOnMac and Uninstall <nop>PlayOnMac icons to the Applications folder) * If the installer asks "Do you want to help <nop> make a compatibility database?" answer either Yes or No. It makes no difference to the running of the program. * If the installer says that XQuartz needs to be installed, select "Please download XQuartz for me" and click Next. * Close the installer * Download the [[http://biostat.mc.vanderbilt.edu/wiki/Main/PowerSampleSize][Power and Sample Size Program]] Windows installer (pssetup3.exe) * Run <nop>PlayOnMac that we just installed. It is in the Applications folder. You can search for it via the magnifying glass icon if necessary. Once <nop>PlayOnMac is running do this: 1 Click on "Install a program" 1 Click on "Install a non-listed program" 1 Select "Install a program in a new virtual drive" 1 Enter “ps” as the name of the virtual drive 1 For “What would you like to do before installation?” leave all unchecked 1 If the Wine Mono Installer comes up, you can click Cancel. Mono is not needed for the PS program. 1 If the Wine Gecko Installer appears, click Install. Gecko is needed. 1 You will be asked to "Please select the install file to run." Click Browse and browse to where pssetup3.exe was downloaded (probably in the Downloads folder). Highlight "pssetup3.exe" and click Open. 1 Click Next to begin the installation of PS. 1 You will then see the usual PS installation dialogs. Use these to install the PS program within <nop>PlayOnMac. 1 <nop>PlayOnMac will ask "Please choose a file for <nop>PlayOnMac to make a shortcut". Select PS.exe as the file for the shortcut and click Next. 1 Enter "PS" for the shortcut name and click Next. 1 When prompted again to "Please choose a file for <nop>PlayOnMac to make a shortcut", highlight "I don't want to make another shortcut" and click Next. * The PS program will now be installed and a PS icon placed in the <nop>PlayOnMac menu. There will also be a PS icon created on the Mac desktop. * Exit the <nop>PlayOnMac program On some systems a font needs to be copied to a location where it can be found by the PS program. First, [[%ATTACHURL%/symbol.ttf][download the font file by clicking here (symbol.ttf)]]. On some browsers, it might be necessary to right click or control-click on the link and select "Save Link As..." to complete the download. Make sure this downloads the file into the Downloads folder. Below are terminal commands that Open a terminal window and run these commands: Finally, open a terminal window and run the commands below. These will copy the font file just downloaded into the appropriate location. The =cp= command assumes that all the <nop>PlayOnMac files are in their default locations and that all default choices were made when installing PS. In particular the name of the virtual drive (see step 4 above) is part of the path in the =cp= command. <verbatim> > cd ~ > cp Downloads/symbol.ttf Library/PlayOnMac/wineprefix/ps/drive_c/windows/Fonts/ </verbatim> <!-- * [[%ATTACHURL%/Archive.zip][Archive.zip]]: Archive.zip -->
