It’s time for Vanderbilt’s 2008 Community Survey!

The 2008 Community Survey began today (March 10) at 12:01 AM and will end at 11:59 PM on March 28. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this process, the annual Community Survey is our opportunity to provide feedback about how we’re doing as an organization and as a team. The feedback you provide is vital to help Vanderbilt become an even better place to work. As with any survey, the higher the response rate, the better we are able to assess viewpoints throughout the department.

To access the survey, go to http://hr.vanderbilt.edu/commsurvey:
  • Click on “Take the Survey”
  • Select the “Start Survey” button
  • Key in work group code. The work group code you will need to complete the survey will be provided at Monday's meeting. Please remember this code is for a larger "roll-up" group; you are actually responding based on your experience with your direct supervisor(s). If you have more than one supervisor, please use an "average" or combined response. The Supervisor list included in the TWiki is linked here for convenience (http://biostat.mc.vanderbilt.edu/SupervisorGuide).

Vanderbilt and our Department have had significant "wins" based on feedback from the Community Survey. Examples of changes Vanderbilt has implemented based on employee feedback in the community survey are: Greater flexibility in work schedules; establishment and expansion of Vanderbilt Valet and staff success-sharing bonuses.

We are doing wonderful work in Biostatistics too. Thanks to Dan Byrne's great idea, we have directly related CQI projects (http://biostat.mc.vanderbilt.edu/CqiProjects) to specific survey questions. Some examples of department wins are Angel An's project on Vanderbilt resources (e.g., WorkLife Connections), Yu Shyr's communication project, Lisa Kaltenbach's fun committee and Mario Davidson's recognition and rewards project. There are new projects we're excited about also such as improving medical journal clubs with biostatistical input, using graphics in R and improving our survey response. All of our CQI projects are equally important and we greatly appreciate your involvement in continual improvement of our department.

Please complete the survey!!!
