Recommended reading
"Truth wears off" by Jonha Lehrer, published in the12/13/2010 issue of the New Yorker (previously circulated by Chris Fonnesbeck via e-mail on 12/12/10).
Publication metric will be finalized and implemented soon.
GROWTH & FINANCE
The department strongly recommends that faculty biostatisticians be listed as co-investigators in grant applications, provided the participation level warrants it. If an application lists "biostatistician," it is referred to the faculty participant for confirmation regarding role, which delays the approval process.
Two FTEs are needed in the
BCC. All collaboration plans have been rolled over to the
BCC.
A special advertisement will appear in AMSTAT News and the UFL site for
BCC manager and for
BCC MS biostatistician(s).
INNOVATION
Jeffery reports on graduate program "approval" process. The graduate program is now awaiting faculty senate approval, and the next faculty senate meeting is in March.
