IT Staff Rounding on Computer Users

We have 5 IT staff members available to visit with our five groups of computer users. The visits don't need to be very long - just ask the person how its going, do they have any questions, etc.

As a follow up to the 2007 community survey, we have been asked to leave each user a short survey to fill out and return.

Please edit this topic and check DONE the visits you make. Answers to common questions should be added to the FAQ page.

Common Concerns

  • Microsoft Word compatibility problems
  • Win4Lin - would like run later versions of Windows
  • Printing from Firefox
  • Printing in general
  • It is important to keep R versions in sync for collaborators. For example, Frank and Svetlana work on R projects together and they should both be running the same version of R.
  • We should not make any change on a user's workstation without checking with the user. We should especially be aware of deadlines that the user has so we can schedule changes far away from that deadline.
