Your MacBook has arrived and you can pick it up in my office (room 11120). Here are a few things that you should do to get it set up.

• There should be a barcode sticker taped to the outside of the box. Once you've unpacked your computer, place the barcode on the back.
• Go through the usual MacBook set up procedures (accept licenses, set up a user account, etc.)
• Connect to the network. See https://www.vumc.org/it/vumc-wireless for information on connecting to the VUMCEmployee network.
• Install Microsoft Office. To install Office, go to https://portal.office.com and follow the directions.
• If you need to connect to VUMC resources from off campus, you’ll need to register for multi-factor authentication and make a VPN connection.

By default your account has administrative privilege so you can install whatever else you need.

Files containing private information should not be stored on portable devices. Network attached storage is available that can be used to store your files. Your network storage is //i10file.vumc.org/biostatistics/vunetid. This space is backed up. Please note that the laptop itself is not backed up by the departments backup systems.
